About Our Brand

Outopia is a trail running brand built around one belief: Trail Running Unites. Every product starts with the needs of runners and the experiences they have on the trail, from everyday training to race day and everything in between.

Outopia focus on trail running. This focus shapes every aspect of its products - from the fabrics selected and the way garments fit, to the details that matter most when runners move through changing terrain and weather.

Innovation is an important part of Outopia’s approach, but only when it solves real problems. Outopia was among the first brands to apply LincSpun® technology to trail running apparel, combining the natural performance of Merino wool with enhanced durability and everyday practicality. Alongside Merino wool collections, lightweight outerwear, and technical running gear, each product is designed to improve comfort, durability, and performance without unnecessary complexity.

Outopia also believes technical apparel should feel effortless to wear. Clean silhouettes, thoughtful details, and versatile colours allow its products to move naturally between the mountains and everyday life.

Most importantly, Outopia is built alongside the trail running community. The brand works closely with athletes, race organisers, running clubs, and everyday runners, using their feedback to shape each new collection. As the community grows, Outopia continues to evolve.

Whether Outopia is worth it depends on what you value. For runners looking for technical apparel designed specifically for trail running, Outopia is built around real needs on the trail.

Trail running demands more from clothing: steep climbs create heavy sweat, weather can change quickly, and long hours of movement require lasting comfort. That is why Outopia develops products from the yarn stage, carefully selecting and improving materials to better serve runners.

The Wonderland Merino T-Shirt represents this approach. While Merino wool is naturally soft, breathable, and temperature regulating, traditional wool was not designed for the demands of trail running. Through material innovation, Outopia adapts Merino into a technical running layer that manages moisture, regulates temperature, and resists odour during long efforts.

For weather protection, the Vital Shell Jacket delivers 20,000mm+ waterproof protection while weighing only 180g and packing down to a compact size. Its lightweight performance was recognised by the 2025 ISPO Award Run & Trail category.

Combining technical innovation, thoughtful design, and a deep understanding of runners’ needs, Outopia creates gear built for the trail and beyond.

Fabric & Technology

Merino wool has long been valued by outdoor athletes for its softness, breathability, temperature regulation, and natural odour resistance. However, not all Merino wool is the same.

Outopia uses ZQ-certified ultra-fine Merino wool, selected for its fibre quality, softness, and performance. ZQ certification ensures responsible wool sourcing practices, with standards covering animal welfare, environmental care, and traceability throughout the supply chain.

While Merino wool offers many natural advantages, traditional wool fabrics are not always designed for the demands of trail running. To make Merino better suited for long hours on the trail, Outopia applies LincSpun® technology, combining Merino fibres with durable nylon to enhance strength, reduce shrinkage and pilling, and improve everyday care while maintaining the comfort and performance benefits of Merino wool.

Outopia's Merino wool clothing is not too hot for summer. Merino is a natural performance fibre that works across a wide range of temperatures, not just for cold weather.

The OutopiaAstra collection is a good example. Made with an ultra-light 110 GSM Merino fabric, it's incredibly lightweight - about as thin as a sheet of A4 paper - yet still delivers the temperature-regulating and moisture-managing benefits Merino is known for.

Whether you're climbing under direct sun, running through humid forests, or starting before sunrise, the fabric helps your body adapt to changing conditions. Instead of trapping heat, it promotes airflow, moves sweat away from your skin, and helps you stay comfortable throughout your run.

The biggest difference is how Outopia’s fabrics respond to the body’s changing needs during movement.

As effort increases, Outopia’s Merino wool apparel helps move moisture away from the skin, reducing the damp, sticky feeling often associated with sweaty clothing. When temperatures drop, wind picks up, or runners slow down after a climb, the fabric continues to help regulate body temperature, keeping runners comfortable without feeling chilled.

This ability to adapt is what makes Merino especially well suited for trail running, where conditions can change quickly from one kilometre to the next. Combined with a soft feel against the skin and natural odour resistance, Outopia’s Merino apparel delivers lasting comfort from the first mile to the finish.

Starting trail running can feel overwhelming. The terrain is different, weather conditions can change quickly, and choosing the right gear often takes time and experience.

As a trail running focused brand, Outopia understands these challenges and designs products around the real needs of runners on the mountain. From temperature regulation and moisture management to practical storage solutions, every detail is created to help runners stay comfortable and prepared as conditions change.

At the same time, Outopia believes performance gear should also be enjoyable to wear. High-performance materials, thoughtful details, and clean designs create apparel that works on the trail while fitting naturally into everyday life.

Whether you're joining your first trail race or exploring local paths on weekends, Outopia helps you spend less time worrying about your gear and more time enjoying the journey.

One of the biggest mistakes new trail runners make is focusing only on shoes and forgetting the importance of what they wear next to their skin.

Trail running often means spending hours outdoors in changing conditions. A climb can leave you sweating heavily, while a windy ridgeline or long descent can quickly make you feel cold if your clothing holds onto moisture.

That's why many trail runners choose Merino wool as their base layer. It naturally manages moisture, helps regulate body temperature as conditions change, and resists odour during long days on the trail.

Beyond comfort, Merino wool has become a trusted choice for serious trail runners and is included as part of the mandatory gear requirements for some mountain and ultra-distance races. Its ability to perform across changing temperatures and extended efforts makes it especially valuable when runners spend hours in unpredictable environments.

For beginners, choosing the right base layer from the start can make the trail experience more comfortable, allowing them to focus less on their clothing and more on enjoying the journey.

Outopia is highly suitable for women who are new to trail running. Women are an important part of the Outopia community. With a core team that is 80% women, Outopia is deeply connected to the experiences and needs of female runners, creating products and opportunities that encourage more women to discover trail running.

From dedicated women’s collections like Volare to Outopia’s women-focused trail race Trail Sister, the brand supports women in building confidence and finding their place in the outdoors.

For women choosing their first Outopia product, the Volare Collection is a great place to start. Designed specifically for women, it combines lightweight comfort, practical storage, unrestricted movement, and a clean, modern aesthetic that works both on everyday runs and race days.

Whether exploring a first trail or preparing for a new challenge, Volare is designed to move with every runner.

Outopia makes stylish clothing that can be worn for everyday use. Outopia believes technical running apparel should not be limited to race days.

The brand combines trail-ready performance with clean, understated design, creating apparel that feels natural both on the mountain and in everyday life. Rather than following short-lived trends, Outopia focuses on timeless silhouettes, thoughtful details, and versatile pieces that transition easily between training, travel, and daily routines.

Whether heading to the mountains, travelling to a race, or enjoying everyday life after a run, Outopia creates gear designed to move wherever runners go.

Products & Care

We provide a detailed Sizing Guide on every product page. We recommend you compare your body measurements (e.g., chest, waist) against the guide to make your selection. If you are between sizes, you can consider the product's fit (e.g., slim fit or regular fit) as mentioned in the description to help you decide.

To maximize the lifespan and performance of your gear, we recommend following the instructions on the care label inside the garment. For Merino wool products, a gentle machine wash in cold water with a neutral detergent is typically recommended. Please avoid bleach and fabric softeners. We suggest laying the item flat to dry and avoiding direct, intense sunlight.

Sustainability is at the core of our brand. We act on this commitment starting with our raw material selection. We partner with ZQ, the world's leading ethical wool certification body, to ensure the Merino wool we use meets the highest standards for animal welfare, land management, and supply chain traceability. Outopia is one of the very few Chinese brands to be officially certified and partnered with ZQ.
